FAQS

What types of services will I be providing to members?
Based on the interests you selected in your Volunteer application, you could be providing many different services to our members. Some of these include:

  • Transportation: Medical appointments, vet appointments, social or cultural events, grocery shopping, errands, and special after-hours requests.
  • Friendly Visits: Companionship, conversation, respite for caregivers, puzzles, games, and sharing stories/photos.
  • Household Support: Organizing, balancing accounts, labeling/organizing food, plant care, occasional pet care, and trash service.
  • Handyperson Tasks: Light bulb changes, smoke alarm checks, storm window adjustments, picture hanging, refrigerator cleaning, moving outdoor furniture, and simple repairs.
  • Errands: Grocery shopping, clothing or gift shopping, prescription pick-ups.
  • Telephone Check-ins: Friendly conversations, well-being inquiries, and needs assessments.
  • Technical Assistance: Programming cell phones, setting up email, computer tasks, gadget troubleshooting, and programming thermostats, TVs, or remotes.

If you're interested in expanding your volunteer interests or taking on additional tasks, please let the Village office know, and we’ll update your preferences accordingly. We're happy to tailor your volunteer experience based on your evolving interests!

How do I let the Village know I’ll be on vacation or unavailable?

Feel free to let us know what interests you, and we can tailor new opportunities based on your skills.
Can I make suggestions for improving the volunteer process or services?
Absolutely! We value feedback from our volunteers. If you have suggestions on improving processes, services, or ways we can better support members, we encourage you to share them. You can submit suggestions to Emily at manager@villagevolunteer.org or (302) 703-2568.
